The Scoop

This past Father’s Day weekend on Saturday, June 17 the Potton Covered Market held its official opening in its new location now situated at the Park Andre Gagnon site. At 11 a.m. this year’s market organizers, Julie Larson and Geneviève Sauve who have, along with other market vendors, formed a non-profit group that is now responsible for the market, joined Municipality of Potton Mayor, Bruno Cote and four members of the Municipal Council, Jason Ball, Andre Ducharme, Emilie Hebert-Larue and Cynthia Sherrer for the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Despite the interment drizzle, the market housed under the protection of the elements in the covered shelter welcomed many visitors for the occasion while keeping them dry and happy. The ambiance was made joyous by the musical talents of Tall Gaet and The Blues Layers and Barry Bellware. While some arrived for an amazing breakfast prepared with fresh local produce, and some for their weekend supply of baking, veggies and flowers, others came to explore the new picnic areas complete with barbecues located along the walking paths beside the beautiful Missisquoi River.
