Outside observers heading to Lambton

In the Estrie region 13 new cases of COVID-19 on were reported on Wednesday, six in the Haute-Yamaska area, five in Sherbrooke, and an additional one in each of the Memphremagog and Granit regions. The number of hospitalizations decreased by one, to one, and the number of people in intensive care, number of people recovered, and number of deaths all remained unchanged from the day before.
A team from the Institut universitaire de cardiologie et de pneumologie de Québec will be brought in to serve as external observers at the Lambton long-term care home and provide feedback and support for how to improve operations. As of Wednesday’s report, 22 residents and 19 employees of the home had tested positive for the virus, with four of those residents having died.
The province of Quebec reported another 471 confirmed cases Wednesday, bringing the provincial total to 69,088 since the start of the pandemic. The number of hospitalizations increased by 10 for a cumulative total of 178. Among these, the number of people in intensive care increased by two, for a total of 30. One death that took place in the previous 24 hours was added to three previously unreported which occurred between September 16 and September 21, bringing the total to 5,809. An additional 236 people were added to the list of those considered recovered, bringing that total to 59,686.
