By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – Brome-Missisquoi MP Denis Paradis presented medals to 20 residents of the area on Friday, May 17, in West Brome, to recognize their exceptional work and involvement in the community. Certificates of commendation were awarded along with the MP’s medals. Among the award recipients was The Record’s own ‘The Scoop’ correspondent Mable Hastings.
“Those who have gathered here this evening play an important role in our community,” he began. “We are here to honour your hard work and your contribution to give our society inspiration and to put a human face on generosity and kindness. You make us all proud. From Lake Champlain to Lake Memphremagog, in French or in English, we all work together to build a better society. This parliamentary medal, as well as this certificate from the House of Commons, is yours. You deserve it,” remarked Paradis. See full story in the Tuesday, May 21 edition of The Record.
