With the 150th overall pick in the National Hockey League (NHL) 2021 Entry Draft, the Montreal Canadiens selected Sherbrooke Phoenix forward, and former first overall pick in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), Joshua Roy.
“I don’t have words to describe how I’m feeling to get drafted by the Montreal Canadiens. My home team, my favourite team, it’s just incredible. I had an amazing day with my family and some of my friends,” Roy said in a phone interview with The Record.
The 17-year-old from St-Georges-de-Beauce was glad to be surrounded by friends and family during the nerve-wracking event. He said that ever since he was five years old, he can remember watching the Canadiens with his parents.
