Phoenix land top pick in QMJHL Entry Draft

The Sherbrooke Phoenix will select first overall at the 2021 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Entry Draft, after winning the lottery draw held on Tuesday.
The draw determined the order of the first five selections. QMJHL Commissioner Gilles Courteau, Director of Communications Maxime Blouin, and several media members were present to supervisor the event.
The Phoenix had three lottery balls in the mix and a 14 per cent chance of winning the draw. The Cape Breton Eagles will select second overall, despite having a 28 per cent chance of claiming the first overall pick.
And the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, the team with the best odds of landing the coveted draft spot, fell to third place. They had nine balls, as well as a 43 per cent chance of winning the lottery. The Quebec Remparts and Halifax Mooseheads will select fourth and fifth, respectively.
