It was a perfect weekend for the Sherbrooke Phoenix.
The local Quebec Major Junior Hockey league team began their playoff series against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Friday night.
After taking the first game of the series with a 5-2 victory, the Phoenix rolled over the visiting Armada for their second win in 24 hours. The Phoenix fired 50 shots on the Armada net and won Saturday’s showdown 6-3 to take a 2-0 lead in their first-round, best-of-seven series.
After seeing five different players find the back of the net in Game 1, the Phoenix offence was once again spread out in Game 2 as six different players scored Saturday night.
Joshua Roy and Jacob Melanson led the Phoenix with a goal and assist each in Game 2, while Hugo Primeau, Kaylen Gauthier, Andrew Belchamber and Israel Mianscum also scored for Sherbrooke.
Mikael Denis, Theo Lemieux and Jonathan Fauchon scored for the Armada, who trailed 1-0 after the first period and 5-1 entering the third.
