Phoenix sweep Armada, await second round opponent

The Sherbrooke Phoenix are moving onto the second round of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League playoffs.

The local hockey team brought out the brooms as they enjoyed a four game sweep of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada after closing out the series Wednesday night with a 5-0 victory.

Joshua Roy led the Phoenix with 10 points in the series, including two goals and an assist in Game 4. Linemates Ethan Gauthier and Justin Gill each recorded two goals and five assists in the series. Meanwhile, in goal for the Phoenix, Olivier Adam picked up his first shutout of the playoffs.

According to Phoenix head coach Stéphane Julien, he’s pleased with the way his team closed out the series.

“It was a great game from start to finish for us,” said Julien.

The team’s head coach and General Manager said the Phoenix’ depth will continue to be a strong point as the playoffs progress.

The Phoenix received scoring from four different players in Game 4, five different players in Game 3, six different players in Game 2 and five different players in Game 1.
