Pickup slams into Sherbrooke building

By Matthew McCully

Louis-Phillipe Paul got a rude awakening Thursday morning when a pickup truck drove through the wall of his apartment, located on the ground floor of a building at the corner of Galt West and Worthington in Sherbrooke. According to Sherbrooke Police Spokesperson Isabelle Gendron, mechanical failure was the cause of the accident. “He had a break problem,” Gendron explained. Luckily for Paul, his bedroom is on the opposite side of the apartment, so he escaped the collision unscathed. The driver of the truck, a man in his 30s known to police, was not so lucky. While he escaped injury, he was arrested and detained for driving under the influence, and is expected to appear in court to face related charges. The accident occurred a stone’s throw from police headquarters at around 8:45 a.m. See full story in the Friday, August 2 edition of The Record.
