Pink shirt day in the Townships

Schools across the Eastern Townships marked Pink Shirt Day on Wednesday, taking a range of actions aimed at combating bullying and spreading positivity
Activities ranged from simple acts of kindness to virtual workshops and reached students across the board at elementary and high schools from Farnham to Danville

Pink shirt "wall" with kind words. Organized by Mya and Amelya, Student council members, to spread kindness and the opportunity for all students to participate even if they didn't have a pink shirt.

At ADS we took had a virtual presentation by The Youth Stars, led by Malik Shaheed, better known as DJ Malik. He taught children from Grades 1 through 6 about the importance of recognizing the signs of bullying, and how to reach out when they witness bullying or are a victim, and how to help fellow classmates and friends. The students did in class activities and also wore Pink to show that at ADS we don’t stand for bullying, we stand together.

"At St. Francis one of our staff members, Gail Johnston came up with the wonderful idea to "Hang bullying out to dry". Each student was asked to write a message on a pink t-shirt cut out and to hang the t-shirt along with all the other messages for our school. The result was a beautiful billboard filled with positive messages about how to be kind to one another."

We also have our school secretary Tammy Porter pictured here with her two sons Ethan (Grade 1) and Liam (Grade 4).

And finally we have a picture of many of our staff members who proudly wore their pink shirts today to support the cause. At St. Francis we strive to be a school where all students feel safe, happy and supported to reach their full potential!"

Attached you will find a Pink shirt day photo from Cheryl Cantin and me (Jody Meacher). Although we are on loan of service and working from a distance, we still made sure to wear our pink shirts and remind people about it. As someone who used to promote Pink Shirt Day throughout the school as a teacher, I really appreciate the work you have done to spread the message and send reminders this year.
