Police offer back to school safety reminder

With the start of the school year, thousands of students, very young children, will be back, which increases the dangers on local roads. The Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS) will conduct special roadside surveillance operations through its traffic squad. Officers will also visit elementary and secondary schools to meet with supervisors, teachers and students. The purpose of the activity is to raise awareness among students of the basic rules for pedestrians in order to maximize their safety and that of road users. In addition, two police teams have been established for the beginning of the university school year, one for the University of Sherbrooke, the other for Bishop’s University.
