Potton issues drinking water shortage notice

By Michael Boriero

The town of Potton has issued a statement warning residents of a drinking water shortage affecting many surface wells in the area.
Mayor Michael Laplume told The Record that it is a case-by-case problem, but they want to get out ahead of it before it potentially turns into a major crisis. Laplume noted that it has been an unbearably dry summer, and one of the hottest in recent memory.
“We didn’t get any rain this summer at all, so systems are getting stretched right now because this is, I mean, I don’t want to say it’s never-before-seen, but at one point they were saying we had gotten about 10 per cent of the water we normally get in a summer,” said Laplume.
