While details of what is under discussion have not been made available to the public at this point Quebec Premier Francois Legault told reporters on Thursday morning that the provincial government is considering capping the number of people with a French education background who will be able to attend English CEGEPs in the future.
“We’re looking at the possibility,” he said when asked about the rumour by media during a general question and answer period at the National Assembly.
Legault went on to say that the idea has come up in the context of a CAQ commitment to strengthen the French language, but that no firm decisions have been made at this point.
