Public health reduces number of reporting days for COVID-19 data

By Gordon Lambie

Quebec’s ministry of health and social services once again modified the way that it presents information regarding COVID-19 on Monday, shifting to a system where in addition to not providing updates on the weekends, they also do not collect data on Saturday or Sunday. As a result, Monday’s report only featured the information collected on Friday, indicating 1038 in hospital with the virus. That number represented a drop of 29 from the information made available at the end of last week. The number of people in intensive care remained unchanged from the last report, at 28.
According to Monday’s data, 36 per cent of those hospitalized with Covid across Quebec on Friday were admitted because of the virus, as were 63 per cent of those in intensive care.
Information on how those levels changed over the weekend is expected on Tuesday and will be reported on that day from now on.
