Public health reports under 100 new COVID cases in Quebec

The daily number of COVID-19 cases reported in Quebec was under 100 for the second consecutive day on Tuesday. Provincial health officials reported 91 new cases of the novel coronavirus today and one COVID-19-related death.
The province has reported a total of 60,718 cases and 5,697 deaths attributed to the virus since the start of the pandemic in March. 53,135 of those cases are now considered resolved.
Hospitalizations also dropped, with 151 patients being treated for the disease, a reduction of six. Of those patients, 21 are in intensive care, the same number as on Monday.
Health authorities say they conducted 9,104 COVID-19 tests on Aug. 9, the last day for which testing data is available.
In the Eastern Townships, there were a total of two new cases reported across the region for August 10, bringing the total to 1099. There have been no new deaths related to the virus in the region since June 23, and there continue to be no local hospitalizations.
