Quebec announces $1 Million for elder abuse research chair at U de S

In an effort to combat elder abuse, the Québec government is providing $1 million in funding over five years to the research chair on the abuse of seniors at the Université de Sherbrooke. The funding was announced Thursday by the Minister responsible for seniors and the fight against bullying, Francine Charbonneau. "Since its inception, the chair of research on elder abuse has made a significant contribution to raising awareness of the phenomenon of abuse,” Charbonneau said. ”Her various research efforts have also made it possible to propose avenues of intervention that guide government action to combat abuse. I would like to once again thank the chair, Marie Beaulieu, and her team for their excellent work done since 2010. " The Research Chair on Elder Abuse was created on November 1, 2010. It is funded by the Secrétariat aux aînés of the Ministère de la Famille.
