The Quebec government is providing $1.17 million in financial support to 67 women-owned businesses in the province, in order to promote the economic empowerment of women.
The announcement came from Isabelle Charest, education minister and minister responsible for the status of women, as well as Economy Minister Pierre Fitzgibbon. The financial support program will be divided into grants ranging from $10,000 to $20,000.
“It was imperative for us to take concrete action to ensure that women entrepreneurs did not lose their hard-won gains due to the pandemic,” said Charest.
The program is led by Femmessor, an organization dedicated to the development of women’s entrepreneurship. The organization helps women in adapting their business model, products, and services to meet the challenges brought on by the pandemic.
