Quebec announces public inquiry into death of Amélie Champagne

Quebec’s Chief Coroner Pascale Descary has ordered a public inquiry into the death of Amélie Champagne on Sept. 11, appointing coroner Julie-Kim Godin to preside over the hearings.
The 22-year-old Champagne died by suicide following a lengthy bout with Lyme disease. The dates for the inquiry have not been decided yet, but it will be released at a later date on the coroner’s office website, www.coroner.gouv.qc.ca, according to a press release on Tuesday.
The purpose of the inquiry is to shed light on the cause and circumstances of Champagne’s death. It will allow any person of interest to express their views on the circumstances of her death. It will also help to analyze contributing factors, and to propose possible solutions.
