Quebec breaks daily  Covid record

Tuesday was Quebec’s fourth consecutive day over 2,000 cases of COVID-19, reporting a record high of 2,183 new infections. There are currently 26,603 active cases reported in the province. The data also reports 28 new deaths, for a total of 7,794.
The number of hospitalizations increased by seven compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 1,055. Among those, the number of people in intensive care decreased by nine, for a total of 137.
In the Estrie region 76 new cases were reported, bringing the local total to 6,905. The majority of the new cases were from Sherbrooke (35) and the Haute-Yamaska region (17). Three new deaths were reported, all from seniors’ residences, bringing the total deaths in the region to 127.
A new outbreak was declared at the Ressource intermédiaire Place Sanborn in Ayer’s Cliff involving eight residents and one employee. Three other new outbreaks with less than five cases were identified; a French Sherbrooke Elementary school, a Sherbrooke business and a grocery/butcher shop in the Memphremagog area.
