Quebec changes health and safety measures for college and university students

Higher Education Minister Danielle McCann announced on Friday that college and university students will return to in-person classrooms throughout Quebec.
“I know that the prospect of returning to class, socializing with each other, and pursuing your academic plans on campus was much anticipated, and rightly so. But we still need your help to make sure that back-to-school time in Quebec goes as smoothly as possible,” she said.
According to a press release, the physical distance measures between students will no longer apply. However, the two-metre rule will be enforced in certain situations, in training rooms, between tables in dining areas, and for activities like singing classes.
The minister worked alongside public health authorities prior to making the decision to alter the return-to-school plan. However, public health did put together special guidelines for institutions where the epidemiological risk is deemed to be greater.
