Quebec continues to see a decrease in hospital numbers

The province of Quebec reported a significant decrease in hospitalizations on Wednesday, with the number of people in hospital with COVID-19 decreasing by 122 to 2,730. The number of people in intensive care, meanwhile, decreased by 14 to 204.
There were 50 new deaths recorded, for a total of 13,336 since the start of the pandemic.

To date 51,152 rapid test results have been reported via the province’s online portal, including 38,782 that showed positive results.

In the Eastern Townships there were 149 people in hospital with the virus on Wednesday, 17 of whom were in intensive care.
The region also recorded another new death, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 502.

As of Wednesday’s update, first dose vaccination coverage for children 5-11 was at 63 per cent across Quebec, with 22 per cent having received a second dose. Meanwhile 46 per cent of those eligible to receive a booster shot had done so.

After having sat largely unchanged at 57 per cent for the last week, the first-dose rate for 5-11-year-olds in the townships increased slightly, to 58.2. The second dose rate for the region was equal to the provincial average.
