Quebec disc golf pioneer Peter Lizotte to have memory live on

Nearly one year after his passing, the memory of Peter Lizotte lives on.

To many, Peter Lizotte was the definition of a disc golf pioneer in Quebec. He began playing disc golf in Vancouver more than 30 years ago and has been playing, teaching and growing the game ever since.

However, when he moved back to Quebec in 2006, he was disappointed to find out there was no organized disc golf.

According to longtime friend Louis Laroche, this didn’t sit well with Lizotte. He quickly began starting course proposals when he arrived in Sherbrooke and installed a temporary tonal course in Lennoxville and continued course proposals a year later.

“He offered all the discs and equipment needed to get a new player started. He’s one of the pillars of the Quebec disc golf community and a positive influence from one end of Canada to the other,” said Laroche. “He helped design most of the courses across Quebec and spent most of his waking hours helping anyone with an interest in the sport, seven days a week, morning until night.”
