Quebec drops below 1,000 daily COVID-19 cases

For the first time since Nov. 2 the province has dropped below 1,000 daily new cases of COVID-19, reporting 982 cases Tuesday.
There were 24 new deaths reported in the province, for a total of 6,675.
The number of hospitalizations increased by 47 compared to the previous day, for a cumulative total of 638. Among those, the number of people in intensive care increased by 13, for a total of 100.
The Estrie region reported 84 new cases, bringing the local total to 3,732.
Bishop’s University and the Centre de formation professionnelle de Coaticook (CRIFA) were added to the list of outbreaks in educational institutions currently under watch by the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS with less than five confirmed cases each. Other local English schools where a COVID-19 case was confirmed include Massey-Vanier, Richmond Regional, Ayer’s Cliff Elementary and St-Francis Elementary.
A new outbreak was also declared at the Service d’interprétation pour personnes sourdes de l’Estrie (SIPSE).
