Quebec reported 707 new cases of COVID-19 Thursday, just below the province’s seven-day average of 721. The total number of people infected in the province since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 290,377. According to public health 272,553 people have recovered.
There were 20 new deaths reported, bringing the total to 10,455.
Hospitalizations increased by eight people for a total of 626, and 115 people are currently in intensive care, down five from the day before.
To date, a total of 490,504 Quebecers have received a COVID-19 vaccine, roughly five per cent of the population.
In the Estrie region 25 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Thursday, bringing the local total to 11,641. Of the new cases, 15 were due to a new outbreak at the Résidence Manoir Jeffrey in Asbestos. An additional new outbreak of under five people was reported originating from a religious institution in the Haute-Yamaska.
The number of cases of COVID-19 variants in the province remained stable at 137, but the number of presumptive cases rose slightly to 1,353.
