Quebec municipalities ready to take in refugees

The Union des municipalités du Québec (UMQ) has declared that municipalities in Quebec are ready to mobilize and welcome Ukrainian refugees into the province.

UMQ President Daniel Côté stated in a press release the importance of supporting Ukrainians fleeing an armed conflict raging in their country. He said the conflict in Europe has become the test of a lifetime for Ukrainians, adding Quebec will be there to provide much-needed aid.

“Quebec is a welcoming society, open to the world. Our communities are strong and well-equipped to quickly accompany refugees, particularly so that they have access to psychological support, find a roof over their heads and enter the job market,” he said.
