Quebec ­records 17 more deaths due to the COVID-19 ­virus

Quebec’s public health authorities registered 53 more confirmed COVID-19 cases for a total of 54,937 cases in the province since the outbreak. They also recorded an additional 17 deaths, bringing the total to 5,441.
According to the provincial health institute, 11 of those deaths came in the last 24 hours, as of June 24. The virus update adds that 448 patients remain hospitalized and 52 people are still in intensive care.
Quebec confirmed that 23,714 no longer have the virus. The province also conducted 6,185 tests on June 22. While the numbers continue to rise in other Quebec regions, the Eastern Townships remain relatively unblemished in the past few weeks.
According to the public health department, there are 959 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region. The number of deaths in the Eastern Townships remains stagnant at 26. There hasn’t been a death due to the novel coronavirus since the last assessment.
