Quebec reports 6,783 new cases, 110 deaths

The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19 in Québec shows 6,783 new cases since December 24, of which 2,291 were confirmed in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of people infected to 192,655. According to public health, 164,163 have recovered from the virus and 28,492 cases are active in the province. The data also report 110 new deaths since the last update before Christmas, for a total of 8,023.
The number of hospitalizations increased by 33 Since Dec. 24, for a cumulative total of 1,085. Among those, the number of people in intensive care increased by 3, for a total of 149.
So far, 17,316 doses of vaccine have been administered in the province.
In the Estrie region 344 new cases of COVID-19 were reported over Dec. 24, 25 and 26 bringing the local total to 7,464.
The CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS has 74 hospital beds and 25 spaces in intensive care reserved for COVID-19 patients. There are currently 39 hospitalisations, and six people in intensive care in the region.
Locally, 505 health sector workers have received the Covid vaccine.
Eleven new deaths in Estrie
Over Dec. 24, 25 and 26, 11 new deaths were reported across the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS territory, bringing the local total to 156 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The most recent deaths happened in the following seniors’ centres:
One at the centre d’hébergement D’Youville in Sherbrooke;
Two at l’Hôpital et centre d’hébergement Argyll in Sherbrooke;
One at la Résidence Haut-Bois in Sherbrooke;
One at the CSSS de la MRC-de-Coaticook (CHSLD) in Coaticook;
One at the Centre Marie-Berthe-Couture in Granby;
Two at the CHSLD Villa-Bonheur in Granby;
One at la Résidence Dutch Lusignan in Bedford;
One at la Résidence des Bâtisseurs in Cowansville;
One at la Résidence Pavillon du Parc in Granby.
