Quebec reports highest daily COVID-19 cases

Quebec recorded its highest single-day COVID-19 case total on Tuesday with the government reporting 1,364 new cases, which brings the total number of people infected with the virus to 81,014.
The public health authority also registered three new deaths in the last 24 hours, which is added to the nine deaths that occurred between Sept. 29 and Oct. 4, bringing the total to 5,899.
The number of hospitalizations increased by 36 for a total of 397. The intensive care unit added five COVID-19 patients for a total of 67.
The CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS confirmed six new cases in the Eastern Townships in the last 24 hours. The region also recorded one death since the last assessment for a cumulative total of 33. They also confirmed six hospitalizations and one intensive care unit patient.
The regions’ local health authority is also reminding Quebecers that the COVID Alert application is now available in the province. The process is anonymous and works without geolocation, tracking or collecting personal medical information.
