Renaissance Lac-Brome cooking up a plan for invasive species

Move over Brome Lake Ducks, because Renaissance Lac-Brome (RLB) may have discovered a new culinary delight to share the dinner table with you. In response to soaring numbers of the unwelcome bait fish known as the Rusty Crayfish in Brome Lake, the lake’s watchdog conservation organization is proposing a tasty approach to population control “They are a problem because they eliminate the native species, diminishing bio-diversity,” said Pierre Beaudoin, secretary of the lake conservation group. “They destroy weeds that are natural spawning zones and they eat newly spawned fish larvae.
