Restaurant and bar owners question vaccine passports

The COVID-19 vaccination passport is coming into effect on Sept. 1 in Quebec, which means restaurants and bars in the Eastern Townships will need to scan their clientele’s QR code before serving them indoors or on a terrace for the foreseeable future.
The passport will be needed for any non-essential activity, which includes dining out, playing sports, and going to the gym. Stan Groves, owner of the Golden Lion Pub in Lennoxville, said it should be fairly easy to implement, since his doormen have always checked identification.
“I think it’s going to be a bit of a hassle, that’s for sure, but I think we will be able to lock it down pretty good, I mean with the years of experience that we’ve had, we’ve always had to do a check up on driver’s license, student cards, medicare because of underagers,” he said.
