Restaurants call for more government support

The Association Restauration Québec (ARQ) launched a new campaign Tuesday called ‘Sauvez les restos M. Legault!’ in an attempt to mobilize restaurant owners, workers and suppliers to call for more aid from the Quebec government.
The ARQ demands Premier François Legault reopen dining halls in all of Quebec’s regions. In a press release, the association, which represents roughly 5,300 members in the province’s food service industry, noted that there needs to be a more structured framework.
Along with demands to reopen dining halls, the ARQ wants the government to provide more direct financial support to restaurant owners, not loans. The association asks its members to sign a petition and send a letter to their provincial representative.
People can find the petition at www.change.org. They are also asked to follow the campaign via social media at Facebook.com/Save the Restos! and on Twitter at @sauvezlesrestos.
