Richmond Regional High School students had a whole new world of opportunities opened up to them this spring with the donation of a class set of bicycles and safety equipment, made possible through the support of several community groups.
Although primarily a bonus for the school’s athletics department, RRHS Principal Kirk Robinson said that the new set has already proven to be of use to other class groups looking to do something in the nearby community.
“It really speeds things up because I don’t have to get a bus for them,” the principal said, offering the example of the school’s photography class biking over to nearby Gouin Park for work on a project.
The donation came about primarily through the Herman family of Turkey Hill Farm, who supplied 19 high quality mountain bikes and also arranged for Action Sport Velo to contribute an additional 11 in order to complete a class set of 30 bicycles.
