Richmond’s 58th annual U11 Mousquiri crowns new champions

After two years of cancellations because of the pandemic, the Mousquiri was back in full force in Richmond for the 58th edition of the tournament.

The Magog Cantonniers were crowned the new champions, Class A. The finals took place on Sunday.

As for the BB class, the Griffon from Richelieu confirmed the team was favoured to win by defeating the Sherbrooke Phoenix in the finals with a score of 4-3.

In the class AA final, the Donnacona-Pont-Rouge and St-Augustin Noroits overcame a two-goal deficit late in the game to narrowly defeat the Sherbrooke Harfangs 4-3 in a thrilling final.

On Sunday, in the other class C finals, the Trois-Rivières Sieurs easily defeated the Husky de Chaudière Ouest Lévis by a score of 5-1.

In the Class B final, the Trois-Rivières Cardinals made a clean sweep to defeat the Drummondville Voltigeurs 6-3.

And in class A, the Magog Cantonniers, supported by many fans, beat the Lachine Rapids 3-2. In the semi-final, they had made quick work of the Val-Bélair Chevaliers 9-1 and the Rapids had disposed of the Trois-Rivières Aigles 3-2 in overtime.

According to Jocelyne Morel, president of the organizing committee, despite a power outage that required some quick workarounds on the final day of the tournament, the event was a a big success.
