The committee coordinating support for the Rodriguez-Flores family while they live in sanctuary at Plymouth-Trinity United Church in Sherbrooke will be holding another solidarity vigil at the church on Thursday evening, Aug. 4, at 5 p.m.
The event will mark nine months that Georgina Flores, her husband Manuel Rodriguez, and their son Manolo have been living inside of the church building. The family sought sanctuary last November in the face of a deportation order that would send them back to Mexico, where they family has previously faced direct threats and violence at the hands of a drug cartel.
The solidarity group had previously made appeals to Sherbrooke MP Élisabeth Brière to take the matter to Immigration Minister Sean Fraser on their behalf.
