Record Staff – To clarify the guidelines governing school fees charged to parents of preschool, elementary and secondary school students, the Minister of Education and Advanced Education, Mr. Jean -François Roberge, presented a bill to clarify the scope of the right to free education and allow the supervision of some financial contributions that may be required. The bill proposes to redefine the scope of the right to free instructional material and to allow the Minister to specify the material that may or may not be free. The Minister may also determine the services offered in the context of specific educational projects and school activities for which a financial contribution may be required.
