Although the detailed total was not yet available on Sunday afternoon, Marisa Hoy of the 1st Lennoxville Scouts told The Record that the group raised more than $3,000 with its can and bottle drive this past Saturday.
“It was pretty fantastic,” said Hoy, who helped to organize and run the event at the Lennoxville Provigo. “We filled the truck one-and-a-half times.”
Although the scouters themselves made a quite significant contribution to the success of the event, with Chris Drew pitching in almost 130 bags worth of cans, Hoy said that donations from the community kept the volunteer team just as busy.
“About half was from the town,” she said, expressing gratitude to all those who came out to make donations and to help with the sorting process.
