Service to honour those who died alone

Record Staff – It’s hard for anyone to imagine that they might die without anyone around to care, but situations like this occur in the Eastern Townships as much as in the rest of the world. Loneliness strikes all layers of society, regardless of the income or social status of the deceased. Separated from society, by themselves or by life, the bodies of these people are not claimed at the time of their death. It is then up to public services to provide them with a modest burial. In support of these individuals the Archdiocese of Sherbrooke has, for the second year in a row, prepared a special memorial service in collaboration with the Estrie Funeral Co-operative and the Coalition for Street Work. The service will take place Thursday, Nov. 22 at 6:30 pm at the St. Michel Cathedral in Sherbrooke. See full story in the Thursday, Nov. 22 edition of The Record.
