La Grande Table, the Sherbrooke-based charity focusing on feeding families and young children, launched its annual “Operation Boules de Noel” fundraiser on Tuesday. Now in its 18th year, the event encourages local citizens to support the organization and its work by buying an array of small Christmas decorations from participating local businesses. “For us, it is very significant” said Ginette Valcourt, the Executive Director of La Grande Table, explaining that the sale results in $13,000 to $14,000 raised for the work of the organization each year. Valcourt shared that the decorations that are sold are all decorated or assembled by local children who benefit from the work of La Grande Table. Each year, La Grande Table serves up more than 60,000 meals through its various programs, two thirds of which are for children. See full story in the Wednesday, Nov. 20 edition of The Record.
