Sherbrooke air search and rescue  team back up in the air

The Sherbrooke SERABEC air search and rescue team was up in the air again this past weekend, this time to help look for an American Beechcraft airplane that went missing near Val-d’or. When speaking with The Record in the context of last month’s search for the crashed helicopter of Quebec businessman Stéphane Roy, Sherbrooke regional coordinator Pierre Braze said that the group practices regularly but rarely has to participate in a real search situation. To be called up for two in four weeks, therefore, is quite unusual.
“This is the first time that we’ve ever had to intervene twice in such a short period of time,” Braze said, explaining that this second search was much shorter than the search for Roy, with the missing plane being found roughly two hours after the Sherbrooke team joined the effort.
