Sherbrooke expands mural circuit

By Gordon Lambie

Last week MURIRS, Sherbrooke’s mural collective, unveiled its 18th public work in the city’s mural circuit. The new creation, entitled “Le cinquième element,” or the fifth element, is located at 332 Marquette Street, almost directly opposite the “tradition and prevention” mural honouring the city’s firefighters. Based in symbolism rather than local history, the focus of the mural is on underlining the interconnectedness of all people and offers a simpler image than many of the other works in the circuit, created in collaboration with German trompe-l’oeil artist Steffen Jünemann, who was also the creator behind the PEACE mini-mural on King Street East.
