Sherbrooke finds a place to honour  Muriel Brand

The City of Sherbrooke will be naming the small park space at the corner of Speid and Hunting Streets in Lennoxville in honour of former town councillor Muriel Brand. According to documents from this past Monday’s City Council meeting, the local Toponymy committee approved the bilingual name “Halte Muriel-Brand / Muriel-Brand Place” at a meeting in June of this year.
The location was chosen in light of Brand’s significant involvement in the restoration and transformation of Uplands into a cultural and heritage centre in the community. The former councillor, also recognized by many as the driving force behind Lennoxville’s annual Friendship Day Celebrations, died at the end of 2018.
