Sherbrooke hosts Repair Café to fix household items

By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – Sherbrooke’s first ever Repair Café will take place on Saturday, May 11.
Members of the public are invited to bring many different objects, ranging from small electric and electronic appliances, shoes, clothes, videogame consoles, bicycles, and more, which will all be fixed free of charge by professionals.
Organized by the Université de Sherbrooke and the Cégep de Sherbrooke, the Repair Café will be happening from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Le Centre Sherbrooke shopping centre at 240, Belvédère Street. Thanks to the support and coordination offered by the Pôle regional en enseignement supérieur de l’Estrie (PRESE) and local partners, the event will combine numerous volunteers, students, amateur and professional repairers, including many electronic, machine, and bicycle repairers, as well as woodworkers, seamstresses, and shoemakers.
