By Matthew McCully – A group of protesters gathered in front of the Service Canada building in Sherbrooke at noon Tuesday to condemn the federal government for denying essential health care to migrants on the basis of their immigration status. While small, the protest group was one of 17 different groups across the country gathering for a national day of action, organized by a national coalition of migrant justice groups. According to a press release regarding the protest, there are estimates of over 500,000 uninsured people in Canada, including new immigrants, temporary foreign workers, returning Canadian citizens, and people without status.
