Liana Bélanger, a student at the To Haku Kan de Sherbrooke Judo Club, took home the gold medal in the U18 women’s -48 kg category at the Quebec Open in Montreal last weekend.
It was just the second competition of the season on the Canadian Judo Circuit. The Quebec Open is one of the most difficult competitions on the circuit, according to a press release, as competitors travel from all over the country and the United States to take a shot at the title.
Despite an injury to her left hand, Bélanger managed to defeat Alberta’s Addyson Tamura in the final.
