By Emilie Hackett, Special to the Record – The Montreal Alouettes visited two elementary schools in Sherbrooke on Monday, Feb. 4, as part of the second edition of their Ultimate Football Tour. Grade 5 and 6 students from École Plein Soleil and École Alfred Desrochers welcomed linebacker Jean-Gabriel Poulin and fullback Jean-Samuel Blanc and played ultimate football with the professional Canadian players. The tour aims to promote football across the province by teaching a simplified and safer version of the game that is contact-free. Boys and girls alike participated in scrimmages that combined ultimate frisbee and the basics of football: passing, catching, and running. The Alouettes will be visiting a total of 75 elementary schools until May 1 with a total of seven athletes rotating between visits. See full story in the Tuesday, Feb. 5 edition of The Record.
