The Sherbrooke Police were engaged in an intervention on Sainte-Thérèse Street near the Jacques-Cartier Bridge for the better part of the day on Tuesday after a man locked himself inside of his home.
According to police spokesperson Martin Carrier, the call came in around 10:30 a.m. stating that an individual was making threatening statements. Carrier did not elaborate on the nature of the statements, but he said that patrol officers and the city’s SWAT team were dispatched to the area as a result.
Sainte-Thérèse Street and an adjoining section of West Galt Street were closed from the morning through to 4 p.m., when police reported that negotiations had ended and the individual turned himself over peacefully for evaluation.
