Sherbrooke Mayor removes councillor from executive committee

On Thursday, Sherbrooke Mayor Évelyne Beaudin announced Annie Godbout, an independent city councillor for the district of Rock Forest, was removed from the executive committee.
It was not an easy decision, Beaudin explained in a phone interview on Thursday afternoon. But, according to the mayor, Godbout left her with no choice, as the tension between members had been building steadily since the executive committee was formed nearly one year ago.
“It was built up throughout the last 10 months. Annie Godbout was nominated 10 months ago and I had to make many one-on-one interventions and also group interventions with her because we didn’t feel like she was really up for teamwork,” Beaudin told The Record.
The committee is comprised of Desranleau Councillor Danielle Berthold, Hôtel-Dieu Councillor Laure Letarte-Lavoie, Carrefour Councillor Fernanda Luz, and Beaudin — the committee chair. She called them Sherbrooke’s guard dogs, protecting and serving the city’s interests.
