Bébé trucs, the drop-in centre for new parents run by the CIUSSS de l’Estrie-CHUS has undergone a transformation. Speaking at an inauguration of the newly-redesigned space on Wednesday, Diane Patenaude, Department Head for perinatal and early childhood services in the eastern sector, said that the focus of the renovation was to improve overall service. “It was a very loud, big room,” Patenaude said, explaining that although the Bébé trucs service has been known and well used for 25 years now, the space it occupied in the building at 500 Murray Street in Sherbrooke was not always very inviting to people coming for the first time. “It is the same space now, but improved,” the department head continued, explaining that in addition to hiring on new staff to help welcome parents into the space and explain the services offered, the room itself has been subdivided into new spaces devoted to checkups, meet-ups, and nursing assistance in addition to a new cloakroom with car seat and stroller “parking.” See full story in the Thursday, June 6 edition of The Record.
