The Sherbrooke Symphony Orchestra (OSS) is looking to pop with its 2018-19 season. For the first time, this fall, the professional orchestra will offer a popular music series on top of its five regular concerts with the hope of drawing in new group of listeners. “I decided to add a pop series because in North America every professional orchestra has a masterwork series and a pop series,” said Stephane Laforest, the conductor and artistic director of the OSS, calling up the history of the Boston Pops orchestra as just one example. “It’s good for us because it attracts new people for new concerts and the musicians play more concerts.” See full story in the Monday, September 24 edition of The Record.
