Speech therapy services now available to English-speaking community

Two speech-language pathologists from the CIUSSS de l’Estrie – CHUS CLSC team are now offering a speech-language therapy service for English-speaking toddlers in the Eastern Townships.

Speech-language pathologists Rosemary MacKinnon and Myriam Fisch have teamed up to provide help with language and communication development to families in need across the Eastern Townships.

“We want to promote the importance of language and speech therapy and let the Anglophone population know there is service for them here,” said Fisch.

One of the many parents benefiting from the service is Ryan Murphy.

Raised in the Eastern Townships, Murphy and his wife are raising their five-year-old daughter, Anna, in a bilingual household. Noticing her speech has been delayed, they have taken Anna to see Fisch and MacKinnon for their speech-language therapy service for English-speaking toddlers

“I’m so happy and pleased to have access to this service,” said Murphy. “I see Anna’s progress every single week.”

Fisch said when she first met Anna, there was an overall shyness and readiness to speak. Since the six sessions working with Anna and Ryan, she said things are going very well.
