The highly anticipated summer event in Mansonville is back! The Spirit of Potton festival has prepared music, circus performances, games of all kinds for the whole family, magic shows, a grand community barbecue, bingo, fireworks, a dance performance by the Maison des jeunes, and much more!

According to a press release sent out by the municipality, the Spirit of Potton event will take place on Aug. 18 and 19 at the large site of the Missisquoi-Nord River Park, in the André-Gagnon area. On Friday evening there is a benefit barbecue dinner for the Covered Market of Potton. This will be followed by a big bingo to support the North Missisquoi Volunteer Action Center. The folk-country-rock group La Patente from New Brunswick will join us for singing and dancing, closing the evening.

On Saturday, August 19, the day will kick off with a pancake breakfast to benefit the North Missisquoi Volunteer Action Center’s food bank, Partage/Share. At the same time, the expanded Covered Market of Potton will host vendors, as well as invited artisans and community organizations.

Throughout Saturday, families can have fun with inflatable games and enjoy various life-size wooden games specially built for the festival. For adventurous youth, a large climbing wall will be set up on the premises. The afternoon will include a dance performance by the Mansonville Maison des jeunes, the magician Yan Beauregard and his Magic-Dog, the performance of cyclists from the Wolf Bike Park on the pumptrack, and the circus and music show “En s’attendant”. For music: in the evening, the jazz group Bluestone Trio from Sherbrooke will be followed by the composer and “one-man-band” Réjean Turbide, then the beloved local band Leadville Union. Fireworks will take place between the two performances.

This year, the festival will offer the Desjardins Relaxation Zone. Located under the park’s multifunctional shelter, the relazation zone will allow festivalgoers to take a rest between activities with a few big beanbags, as well as admire creative projects concocted with the children from the two primary schools in the Municipality of Canton de Potton.
